Auro-Ciprofloxacin 500mg contains ciprofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic used to treat a range of bacterial infections, including:

  • Respiratory Tract Infections: Such as sinusitis, bronchitis, and pneumonia.
  • Urinary Tract Infections: Including cystitis and pyelonephritis.
  • Skin and Soft Tissue Infections: Like cellulitis and impetigo.
  • Gastrointestinal Infections: Such as traveler's diarrhea and certain types of food poisoning.
  • Bone and Joint Infections: Including osteomyelitis.

Ciprofloxacin works by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, enzymes critical for bacterial DNA replication, which leads to bacterial death.

The 500mg dose is commonly used for moderate to severe infections or infections resistant to other antibiotics. It is typically taken twice daily.
