Altace Caps 2.5mg contains ramipril, an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor. It is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), manage heart failure, and reduce the risk of cardiovascular events such as heart attacks and strokes, particularly in high-risk patients. Ramipril lowers blood pressure by relaxing blood vessels, making it easier for the heart to pump blood.

The 2.5mg dose is often prescribed as an initial or maintenance dose, depending on the patient's condition and response to treatment. It might be used to start treatment in patients who require gradual titration of their medication or in patients with certain conditions that necessitate a lower starting dose.
