Alphagan Drops 0.2% is an eye drop solution containing brimonidine tartrate at a 0.2% concentration. It is commonly prescribed to reduce intraocular pressure (IOP) in individuals with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. Brimonidine works by decreasing the amount of fluid produced in the eye and increasing fluid drainage, which helps to lower the pressure inside the eye. This reduction in pressure is crucial for preventing damage to the optic nerve and potential vision loss associated with glaucoma. Typically, the drops are used two to three times a day, as directed by an eye care professional.
